We bring you an exciting evening of high drama, investigation and… murder!

Our Murder Mystery evenings are all about interactivity and fun, where your guests are at the centre of the plot.

A Murder especially for Christmas time

12+ players.

How it works...

Our hosts (one or two, depending on the game) run the game as one of the characters, where your guests play the characters of the ‘story’.

You and your guests can all play along as only the host will know what has occurred and the identity of the murderer.

All guests will receive their character information prior to the event.

How does a typical event run?

  1. Guest arrival
The host will give the players a quick briefing of how the game will work.
  2. The game begins
The characters will mingle and talk in character to get the ball rolling.
  3. A murder!
At some point during the evening, usually before or at the meal, a murder occurs or is revealed. Now the game begins in earnest as a murderer is amongst you!
  4. Looking for clues
After the discovery of the murder, guests start thinking about the information they have already found out about the other guests in a new context, working together and comparing notes in order to find the identity of the murderer. As well as gleaning information from each other, there are physical clues around the venue to help them solve the mystery.
  5. The plot thickens
Various events occur and clues are revealed that drive the plot along.
  6. The murderer revealed
At the end of the event the guests use all they have discovered to accuse one of their party of murder, and speculate on their motive and method. The host, in true murder mystery fashion, will reveal the true murderer and the guests will find out if they are correct.

Frequently Asked Questions...

How far in advance do we need to book?

Ideally at least 1 month in advance. The longer the better.

If you want to book with less than a month, we should be able to help if we have availability and a game that already  fits your party size.

It also depends on the time of year. Our busy periods are May – July and September- December for these periods we recommend booking at least 3 months in advance.

In 2023 we had sold out our December availability by September.

Can we keep the game a secret?

We usually send out character packs to all guests 1 week in advance so players can get to know their character. We can keep back one or two that could be surprised on the night.

Alternatively, we are currently writing a new game that will allow guests to have no prep in advance and receive their character information on the evening, meaning you can surprise the whole group. If you are interested in this style, please let us know and we can update you when it is ready.

Do you do games for larger groups?

Yes. We now offer games for larger groups.

We can run these in two different ways.

Simultaneous hosted games

Our usual hosted games that run simultaneously in different rooms.

So for 100 people, you can have 4 games running at the same time in groups of 25 players per group. In this example you would have 1 or 2 hosts per game.

For this to work you would need 4 separate rooms and the guests in the separate games would not mix during the game.

Acted game

We can also offer a more traditional style murder mystery where our actors play the parts. Although, because our games are all fully immersive, we will also give brief character cards to all your guests so they will all play a part, but smaller than they would in the hosted games. They would get these cards on arrival, and some guests would have tasks to complete on the evening.

Do you offer discounts?

We get asked this a lot. Unfortunately, we don’t. We are committed to paying our actors a fair wage. Some murder mystery companies only pay their actors £50! That’s fine if it’s a hobby but we hire professional actors, who sometimes drive miles to get to your venues, and need to do a certain amount of preparation before your event.

On top of those costs, there is a lot of work that goes into this that you don’t see and each script and character list is bespoke for you and your group. From buying, creating or updating props, adapting or writing new scripts.

To put it another way, we put lots of attention into each and every booking so we are unable to offer discounts.

Do we have to dress up?

No. We want you and your guests to have fun, so if the idea of dressing up doesn’t interest you and your guests, then you don’t have too.

Some groups really go to town and get the full outfits sorted but others are happy to do it in jeans and t-shirts. It’s up to you how you play!

Do we have to have a sit down meal

No. We can run the game alongside a sit down meal, buffet or no food at all.

If you are planning on having a three course meal alongside, we can give timings to your caterers so they know when to serve the food. Our actors/hosts will retreat while you eat, but we encourage the game to continue in character.

If you are having a buffet we recommend a break while eating.

If you are having no meal the game will run slightly shorter, however our actors/hosts will still schedule in breaks which could be a chance to get a drink or snacks.

Do all guests have to play a character?

We give characters to all guests but if you have people in your party who are not keen on being in the spotlight that is fine. Most games have between 8-10 critical parts, the others are more incidental.

When you book we ask you to suggest which people would like to play an acting part and who are confident at acting.

We will cast the characters from the information you give us, so please let us know if you have anyone who wants to take on a lesser role.

People who are given smaller parts, can get involved as much or as little as they like.

It would be totally fine for them to be more of an observer. Our hosts would be made aware of any guests that are less confident and wouldn’t make them do anything they are not comfortable with.

We’ve had a guests in the past who privately messaged us before the event telling us they were dreading the evening, and after the event they said they had a great time.

To date we’ve never made anyone cry! (real tears)

We want to book what do we do?

YAY! We’re so glad you’d like to make a booking. For us to hold the date for you we need to take a 25% deposit. The remainder is due 7 days before your event which is when we will send out your character packs.

To book, send Phil an email, or call him and we can send over how to confirm your booking.
